Sub-Zero Ice Maker Repair
The ice module, inlet valve, filter, supply line and drain on Sub-Zero built-ins, plus Sub-Zero undercounter ice machines.
Before you call
Five things to rule out first. Most no-ice calls end at one of them.
- Confirm the ice maker is switched on at the control panel, then give it 24 hours before you judge it.
- Look for the filter icon on the control panel; if it is lit, change the cartridge, and either way reseat it with the power off.
- Open the shut-off valve on the supply line all the way — a half-open valve starves the fill.
- Look for ice sealing the fill tube above the ice maker; if it is blocked, the freezer needs a four-to-six-hour thaw.
- Push the shut-off arm down, seat the bin level, and clear any cube jammed in the mechanism.

What the visit tests
- Water to the unit: the supply reaching the inlet valve, and the valve opening when it is told to.
- The fill: how much water reaches the mold, and whether the fill tube stays clear.
- Freeze and harvest: the mold getting cold enough, the cycle finishing, the cubes leaving cleanly.
- On undercounter machines, the drain: water leaving the bin as fast as melt arrives.
The result is one figure for parts and labour, taken from the band table below. Nothing is ordered or opened up until you agree it.
